What to do during quarantine

I know in this era of social-distancing we've all been trying to adjust to our new normal. I feel very lucky that my boyfriend and I were able to close on our house right before all this craziness started. My friend was also able to move from the apartment complex we were all living in to the studio in the back yard. I am very lucky to be quarantined with the people I love and to have had a lot of time to complete projects that otherwise may have been put on the back burner. We were able to get fully unpacked and start a few new projects. We managed to till the whole yard, plant grass and (so far) keep our dog from destroying it. I am also in the process of starting my online real estate classes. We were a little concerned with our mountain Airbnb for a while, but I have a few prospects interested in medium-term renting it. I feel very lucky to have had these projects to keep myself and my loved ones busy. I thought I would also share the content that I have been devouring in this time since it has obviously increased with the stay at home order.

Podcasts:

I am considered an essential employee so I am still driving to work every day. These are the podcasts I have been listening to on my drive.

"My Solo Road" - This podcast dives pretty deep into the questions associated with van life. I wasn't very into podcasts until I found this one and now I devour every new episode. Maybe some day I'll be able to use all the information I've been storing from it.

"Mob Queens" - This podcast was a deep dive into the life of Anna Genovese who was married to the man who helped to inspired The Godfather. It's a very interesting display of our history in New York during and after Prohibition. If you're even slightly interested in the history of mob life, I would highly recommend it.

"The Real Take" - This is my best friend's podcast. She's been making it on her own in New York City and I highly suggest giving it a listen.

"Fake Doctors, Real Friends" - This is a Scrubs rewatch podcast with Zach Braff and Donald Faison. So far it only has one episode, but they're planning on diving into the whole nine seasons. Scrubs was huge for me growing up. I've seen every episode multiple times. Getting the behind the scenes comedic take with on and off-screen best friends is really hyping me up for more episodes.

Books:

I've been trying to read one book a month at the very least. I actually haven't been reading as much as I thought I would in quarantine, but I had read a lot before it begun. Here are some books that I read either this year or last year that I would love to put on your radar.

Where The Crawdads Sing - I read this with my book club and we all loved it. I know some people weren't as hyped about the ending, but the actual book was an amazing journey and I really liked it!

The Testaments - This book is set as a sequel to The Handmaid's Tale. Again, reviews were pretty split on this one, but I couldn't put it down and it got me interested in watching the show on Hulu again. I don't want to give anything away, but it's definitely a good read.

The Silent Patient - I read this one with my book club as well. It had a great twist ending that we all loved. If you're into thrillers, I would definitely pick this one up.

Daisy Jones and The Six - This one is set up in interview styles. It gave me a greater appreciation for Fleetwood Mac than I already had. They say the book isn't actually based on them, but they were definitely at the front of my mind as I was reading it.

Happy reading and listening! Enjoy this photo of a book, my dog and the Denver skyline before sunset. Check back for shows I'm watching and other ways we can all stay sane that don't involve our entire social circle, bars or restaurants.
