Quarantine Saved My Skin

I don't think I'm alone in reflecting on ways to better myself with all the free time we've acquired during quarantine. One thing that had definitely taken a back seat in my priority list before all of this started was my skin care routine. My skin care routine before was really to just throw some cleanser on my face while I was in the shower and use toner and moisturizer when I remembered along with occasional face mask and pore strip.

Our skin does most of it's healing at night. We've all heard this over and over, but have we ever really thought about it? This means night time skincare routines are really the most important. We absolutely have to take our make up off before bed. Even if it's Bare Minerals powder foundation it can't sit on your face all night or your skin won't be able to repair itself. For my skin, I've learned the hard way that it's better if I only use cleanser once a day, so I still use this in the shower in the mornings, but at night it's really more of a water and toner method. I thoroughly rinse my face then apply Lancome toner. You'd be amazed at what you think is clean until you see what you almost left on your face overnight.

I always thought I had bad skin, it turns out I was just being lazy about taking care of it. I've now learned it's not so much the product or the routine that matters as everyone's skin is different. We all just need to try things and stick to them. Just doing something to better your skin every night is the most important thing. If you're unsure where to start, ask someone who is related to you. Their skin care routine would be the most helpful. Maybe everyone in the world was aware of this except for me, but I know that I definitely needed the quarantine wake up call and hopefully we can all carry the good habits we've picked up from this into the the future.
